I decided to go with a neutral look with rustic touches and light and bright colors. Decorating a small bedroom is a difficult task, especially on a budget, but I think I get a lot out of it. I read this recently and it resonated with me: “Home isn’t where you come from, it’s where you find the light when you grow up.” -Pierce Brown, Golden Son. It’s no secret that I’ve been looking for my home for a long time. I’ve lived in many places (even different countries), but I’ve learned that until you finally find a part of yourself where all your parts come together, it’s not home.

We recently moved into this apartment and it feels like home somehow. I recently shared all about my small home decor tour, previous post if you want to check it out.

How To Decorate Your Bedroom (without Buying Anything!)

It’s not the structure itself, but how you feel about it. I don’t feel at home now because the house is perfect (because it is far from perfect), but because here is an opportunity for me and us to start from scratch with a lot of effort to build it. It’s not our house, of course, it’s rented out, so my main goal is to buy my own one day, but what makes this house my home now is that I have my family with me and every little thing I have here is ours . We either build it or buy it used or inherit it. But most importantly it has intelligence, strength and love. If we leave tomorrow, everything will go with us.

I’m not going to lie, one of my biggest passions is decorating my home. Sleeping in my own decorated and stylish bedroom is a must. Woke up in the morning to see everything as I dreamed it would be. Now I feel very close to being true. The master bedroom is underway!

All those years of collecting master bedroom ideas have finally paid off. I’ve collected some pretty cool ideas. Although I couldn’t be as pretty as these pictures, I learned a lot about decorating and decorating and how to make it work in a small space. I especially love Angela’s style at Simply Beautiful, and Beth at Home Stories A to Z has created so much beauty at home that it’s hard not to be inspired.

The design of the master bedroom is not finished yet. Things tend to be painfully slow when you’re working with a limited budget, but we also have to be happy. I just wanted to share how it all started and how I’ve been doing what I’ve been doing so far. I love how things are turning out and I can’t wait for it to be completely finished.

Ways To Transform A Boring Bedroom

I shopped thrift stores and thrift stores, and someone gave me some trinkets. I went to many stores looking for an affordable mattress. I bought the rest of the decor parts from sales, second-hand shops and bargains. Ikea is also a fantastic help. They have some good credit options that I have also used. It’s not easy, but it’s so worth it!

Well, this is the raw truth. This is what our master bedroom looked like when we moved in. I only had our mattress (ours and Ems) and a few other things. We had to sleep on a mattress on the floor for over a month while we decided what kind of bed we wanted.

Since space is a big issue here and we don’t have any storage, we have to be creative and practical. We decided to buy a folding storage bed. It’s amazing what you can save there. The hard part was finding affordable parts. I went to countless stores and ended up in a factory price store where they were the manufacturer so they offered a good price.

We decided to use the storage bed to store our bags and tried to fit smaller bags as well. We use these bags to store our winter/summer clothes. It saves a lot of space.

I also decided to store our clothes and towels somehow. It makes sense to have linen where it would actually be anyway.

After I gave up my favorite headboard before I moved here I knew I had to make another one, I made another version but it didn’t turn out as expected. So I’ve removed it now and am working on the recovery, I’ll show you when it’s done.

I love how bright our master bedroom is. That said, I wasn’t sure I wanted to draw at all. Part of me said paint, paint, and the other was like you will lose the shine. My solution was to paint one wall as an accent wall in a very neutral and very light white complementary color.

I asked for advice on painting the wall on my insta story and the answer was 100% “paint the wall behind the headboard” so I did. I will share all the details about accent wall paint in another post.

Of The Best Relaxing Master Bedroom Ideas

I decided I wanted a light gray color, but since most brands would sell me a big bucket of paint and it was expensive in my opinion, my husband came up with the idea of making our own gray. The white base is much cheaper than ready-made colors and we got heavy colored bottles, it’s food coloring but like paint. All we did was add a few drops of black paint until we got the shade we wanted. We spent half the price on ready-made colours.

I wanted to install a picture rail above the headboard and play with different frames with pictures and prints.

Yes…I installed a beautiful white photo booth! Ha ha ha ha. I’m playing around with what boards to put in there, but I’m still working on it.

As you can see, it’s not over. How fine is the frame size sheet for the frame? Ha ha ha ha. I will update you on how I arranged the columns when all the master bedroom is done. Each one came from a different place in the LOL sales basket. I’ve been building this for a while, as you may have noticed.

Tricks To Decorate Most Romantic Bedroom

If you look closely you can see the hooks on the headboard (I even hung a cute sign on one LOL). As soon as I finish the rebuild, I’ll put it back up and update you.

I bought bedside tables from Ikea but I am not completely satisfied with them. I found that those desks with doors instead of drawers were not practical. I’ll probably switch to more with shelves in the near future, but for now I like the look.

I want to change the lights. I’m thinking of wall lamps to get more usable space for the bedside table. Thinking of doing something similar to Misty over MisDIY.

Now I just decorate with frames, flowers, pretty bottles and books. Setting up the bedside table.

The other thing I plan to do is maybe cover the ugly walls with some cute bricks or something, because I hate having keys visible. What do you think about this?

I have this wall in front of my bed that is completely separated by a column that makes a perfect space for storage. It is not very deep, but it is suitable for decorative purposes.

I’ve been brainstorming some ideas and this is the best I can think of. I really enjoyed it, but…

… the steps didn’t help and I felt like using the off the shelf packages wouldn’t show up there. Also, when I do the math, I want to spend more on making fancy shelves than going for liquid stuff. Easy decision!

Once, after much analysis of where and what I could find, I decided to play with small floating shelves in a zigzag pattern. So I installed a right, a left, a right and a left. This way I can use even longer items and arrange them nicely.

Again, it’s not quite finished, but I like how it’s going so far. Actually, I think this part will never be done because we might change the decorations when the season comes, I don’t know. I just love this corner of my bedroom.

I know a thing or two about cleaning and I’m not going to put much in there. Cleanliness is one
