“Depending on how the eyeshadow is applied, a smoky eye can make your eyes appear smaller,” says Bailey. “It’s not that if you have small eyes you can’t look smoky, but I recommend keeping the darkest part of the shadow lower on the lid and blending it well from the center to make it stand out. Gradual and less like a large, saturated color spot.”
Bailey usually avoids smoky black on small eyes, but if that’s an issue for you, she says, “I recommend using a taupe or even gray to tone down black shadows as well as black shadows. “Use dark brown.” pencil to minimize. Line the waterline instead of black to avoid shrinking the eyes.”

“I always recommend adding a shimmer or a light matte shade to the browbones and inner corners to bring the light back into the eyes,” says Bailey. Adding just a little bit of shimmer is key to making your eyes pop, whether you’re going for a neutral look or a smoky eye.

This very simple step can really make a difference. Straight eyelashes can cast a shadow on the eye area. By twisting it with a curling iron, you will instantly open the area around the eyes.
