Before starting your makeup routine, you can create glowing eyes by using the right skin care products. Look for eye or under eye creams that help remove blemishes, hydrate and correct dark circles.

TULA SKINCARE Eye Feel Amazing Cooling & Brightening Hydrogel Eye Mask is one of our favorite eye care products for bright, awake eyes. The under-eye patch uses probiotic extracts, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and green coffee caffeine to moisturize, cleanse, and awaken the entire eye area—all before applying makeup.

According to Alice Dickson, make-up artist and educator at GlamCandy UK, this trick will help make the eyes appear more open. Just make sure you only use them on the outer corner (you can also add them to the top and bottom lashes if you want!).

You can use brows and eyebrows to shape what you are looking for. According to Dickson, using a brow bone lifter is one way to get the job done. She likes to use easy-to-use products like ICONIC LONDON Glaze Crayons to contour under the browbones.

Dark circles can create the illusion of shadows around the eye area, making it appear smaller overall. To lighten and brighten the entire eye area, use a tinted cleanser on the under-eye area for an even complexion.

Pro Tip: Try using an inverted triangle concealer under the eyes to create a “triangle of light” under the eyes. For all the details on how to nail the technique, read our guide on how to use concealer.

Make-up artist Lennie Billy says, “My technique for making my eyes look bigger is to apply eyeshadow close to the brow bone.” “It gives the illusion that your eyelid is bigger and opens up more of your eyes, especially if you’re wearing eyeliner.”

Speaking of eyeshadow, the shade you use can have a big impact on how bright and open your eyes look. “When it comes to eyeshadow colors,” says Billy, “using light to medium eyeshadows will help make your eyes look more open.”

Lining the eyes with a dark brown or black pencil is great for adding drama, but it can also make the eyes look smaller. For an eye-opening effect, try replacing the dark eyeliner with a white eyeliner or a clear eyeliner like TARTE Fake Awake Eye Highlight. Billy says she likes to use eyeliner along the upper and lower lash lines to give her eyes a bigger, wider look.

“Depending on the shape of the eyeshadow, smoky eyes can make your eyes look smaller,” says Billy. “It’s not that if you have small eyes you can’t wear smoky, but I recommend keeping the most pigmented part of the eyeshadow low on the lids and blending it really well from the center up, so it looks more like a gradient and less like a big saturated spot of color.”

Billy usually avoids creating black on small eyes, but if that’s your obsession, she says, “I suggest using a dark brown or even gray to tone down the black shadow. Also use a dark brown pencil. Waterline instead of black to avoid creating a black shadow. the eyes look smaller.”

“I always recommend adding a light shadow or a light shade to the browbones and inner corners to brighten up the eyes,” says Billy. Adding just a little bit of shimmer is key to making the eye pop, whether you’re rocking a neutral eye or a smoky eye.

Try using a sheer eyeshadow like BEAUTY FOR REAL Shadow STX 24-7 to easily apply the product to the inner corners of your eyes. You can also touch on a highlighter like OFRA COSMETICS Highlighter in Blissful to create the same effect.

This simple step can make all the difference. Straight lashes can cast shadows around the eyes. Curling with an eyelash curler will instantly open up the eye area. Follow this procedure with a curling mascara like BENEFIT COSMETICS Roller Lash Mascara to add more lashes and define the lash line along the upper and lower lash lines. Dickson also loves M⋅A⋅C Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara.

How To Apply Makeup For Mature Hooded Eyes In 8 Easy Steps

Brittany is an award-winning beauty, health and lifestyle writer and the author of the book of poetry “23 Feelings”. He has eight years of experience working for brands such as Elite Daily, The. Show Dr. Oz, Shape, Stylecaster, Bustle and more. A few years ago I looked in the mirror and realized that my eyes had become hooded and droopy as I got older. I freaked out and watched tons of makeup videos to see if I could learn how to fake eyelids and make my eyes look bigger.

Luckily, I’ve learned a few ways to keep my aging eyes looking their best. Today I’m sharing with you my favorite subtle eye makeup technique for old hooded eyes.

As we age, our eyes can droop, with the skin of our lids becoming heavy and drooping over the lids, partially or in some cases completely covering the lids. This side-by-side comparison of me at 17, then again at 50 shows what happened in painful detail.

As you can see, my eyes are always covered, with very small eyelids. But as I age, the excess skin on my face dries out (like most parts of my body!) and falls off.

As we age, we can also develop thick lids that make it difficult to blend our makeup. We can’t bring back our youth, but we can at least improve our makeup techniques to enhance our features as they are now.

Do you have hooded eyes? To determine if you have shirt eye, hold a mirror in front of you and look up. If the skin on your eyelids looks smooth without wrinkles or folds, then you don’t have eyelids.

If instead of looking in the mirror with raised eyebrows, you have excess skin covering part or all of your eyelids, then you have hooded eyes.

Hollow eyes are not the same as droopy eyes. Kapoë is a common eye shape that many people have regardless of age. Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence are beautiful women with an eye for clothes.

But if your kapoe is caused by age, then it is caused by your sagging skin and can make your eyes look sad and sad. (I know, ugh, gravity)
