This Victorian farmhouse in Oxfordshire, England, unearthed by Toast CEO Susie de Rohan Willner, may be on the small side, but it oozes country charm. Light green base cabinets draw the eye into the room, while open shelving allows for clever storage and stylish display of knick-knacks.
The client of this Manhattan apartment doesn’t use her small pantry-style kitchen often, but that hasn’t stopped designer Lauren Buxbaum Gordon from turning it into a showpiece. His trademark? Extension of the cloakrooms up to the historic ceiling of the towers. The light paneling and glossy white color let the sunlight flood in, but it’s the shiny gold appliances and accents that really make this small kitchen a winner.
When you work in a 16th-century palace, as French designer Eric Allart did, you have to be aware of the idiosyncrasies of the time. This kitchen was fitted with terracotta tiles. Instead of ripping them out, Allart left them in place and designed a whimsical kitchen in unexpected colors to complement them. Here, an inky tile refracts the sunlight, while a pepto pink hue on the walls and ceiling draws the eye upwards.

A bright pink Victorian-era plinth houses antique crockery, while a goat sculpture (formerly displayed on Saks Fifth Avenue) brazenly protects the fridge (disguised in whimsical artwork) from late-night snack thieves. Anything is possible in this space as long as you do it.

With vintage chairs underneath and a few Allied Maker trailers above, this vignette has all the impact of its sprawling suburban cousins.
We love how this kitchen in a family apartment in Brooklyn for civilian co-founders offers tons of storage with amazing details. A custom island with a distinctive piece of marble provides storage for cookbooks and cookware, while a cherry red hue (also custom) adds a fun post-modern touch.
