Small Kitchen Design Images – As someone who has never had a large kitchen in any of my apartments, I love and appreciate the great ideas that come from designing small spaces (especially kitchens). I’ve had to get a little creative with these types of rooms, so if you have a small kitchen that you’re looking to update, I’m here for you. In fact, I am now in your place! Every day I look at my sweet little kitchen and ask it, “How can I make you better?! Talk to me!” So I hope to inspire some great ideas that either renter or renovator can use. Maybe I have interesting ideas too 🙂

Ok, I know you only saw this kitchen last week, but since it inspired this post I thought I’d make it first. I think the most important idea to steal is the time planning idea. Although photographed and styled for MG’s new book, this kitchen was built at least seven years ago. Can you tell me?? me neither. Classic materials (white oak and white marble), a neutral but stylish color palette, clean lines and simple appliances are the ingredients for a kitchen design that will look great for years to come.

One thing Ryan mentions in the post is that the island and kitchen are made of the same marble. It is not only simple and beautiful, but also helps unify the corner area. Your eyes can also relax. This is a very good thing because they went with open shelves. As you’ll see in a moment, I’m a big fan of open shelving when it makes sense. I think a really small kitchen is the best place for them. Why? If you live alone or with someone else, a lot of dishes, glassware, etc. Not necessary. It makes care and organization easy. It also opens up the upper half of the kitchen, making it appear larger and visually brighter. Finally, it’s an easy way to spruce up your kitchen and give it your own style. You can easily add color to plates or glasses, style beautiful vases and bowls, the sky is the limit. It’s a fun playground 🙂
Oh, and of course I have to mention the Transformers-esque features of this island. As you can see above, it can be an island, but it can also be a desktop. If necessary, it can be moved between the studios and converted into a dining room for four (maybe six).

Best Small Kitchen Ideas To Design Your Small Cooking Space
Here is my former little oasis. While there is no shortage of usable indoor storage space (the cupboard can be converted into a stove – less easy to access) and UNMADE flooring, the rest is sorely lacking. This kitchen was a real DIY labor of love that made my father leave me because of my “specific and detailed” requests.

So what did I do with my little kitchen? Fun fact: It wasn’t the little kitchen I lived in – hey, San Francisco! Okay, here’s the list:
If you’re wondering if I removed the cabinet doors from the top, I didn’t. They’ve always been like that. I think they had a door at some point. I enjoyed shaping them and showing them all the things I like to see and use. I think the doors would be a missed design opportunity. If you have plenty of cabinet space, consider removing some (or all) of the upper cabinet doors and painting them all (even if they’re not the same color) for an intentional look. I will consider this in my new kitchen.
How To Create A Simple Kitchen Design?
So on the left, my other love is my old banquette. Look, I can put together a nice bistro table and a couple of chairs and call it a day. But a) I like to make things more complicated for myself, but even more b) I like to use as many square meters as possible – everyone should try this when designing a small space. each. Count inches. Moreover, according to experience, the area seems huge. I created a makeshift bistro there and it shortened it a lot.
All wooden parts are made from stair lifts! This means that the front of each piece is round. Well, my dad was lucky enough to have friends with great tools that could easily turn corners and sides. But if you want to put a bench or banquette between two walls, you don’t have to worry! Then my cousin and I made the blue velvet backings (no sewing machine needed) and the brass rods were thrift store cut restoration hardware that my dad’s girlfriend found. I understand all the details in the original post, but I just wanted to show you that you can still do more even if you rent. Don’t let “I’m just renting” stop you from designing a home you’ll truly love.
My only regret about the kitchen (besides not doing anything to the floor) is that I didn’t get the best roman shades for the window. Isn’t there always room for improvement? 🙂

The Best Small Kitchen Ideas
Welcome to Welinda’s Basement Kitchen. He lives in an apartment, or as he likes to say: “a small 400 sq m hobbit house above my 980 sq m bungalow, which he rents out.” There are many ideas, so collect them. First, let’s talk about household appliances. The little oven you see is actually a 5-in-1 oven! According to him, it “cooks, grills, bakes, bakes and microwaves … and fits in a 24” cabinet. I’m sorry to say that I don’t think it’s available anymore, but you’ll see what can be assembled when it comes to equipment and small spaces.
His clever and elaborate approach took a standard-sized sink and turned it on its side. Let me tell you why:
“I didn’t have a normal, small kitchen sink.” I wanted something that would fit in a crock pot or dutch oven but maximize counter space. So I turned the regular size sink on its side…which means no water in the middle. I don’t know, but this narrow 20″ wide (but 24″ wide!!) used every inch the main closet allowed. Plus, it maximized the storage underneath by putting the trash (one of which I needed) off to the side instead of in the middle, freeing up half the cabinet!
Smart, right?!!!! Also, notice how he chose a wall-mounted faucet so he could reverse the direction of the sink, so he didn’t need the counter. All this is known… because it is.

Welinda also said she chose glossy Zellage tiles to update the lighting. This is a great way to make a space feel bigger. It’s like a mirror, but you don’t have to look at yourself! Basically why you should think twice before using black tiles in a small kitchen.
Have you also noticed the beautiful ultra-thin shelves? Featuring a large design with tiled walls and an extractor hood, these slim metal shelves are a great choice for not taking up space but without compromising the storage you need. Plus they look great!
Little Welinda’s latest toy in the kitchen (but read her full post carefully) is a metal grid that she uses as a kitchen utensil shelf. One is a hand towel holder for larger dishes in front of the hood, and the other is on the side of the tie cabinet. It was the perfect size, had lots of hooks and helped free up the drawer. A must if the kitchen is fun 🙂

Yes, I’m talking about those DIY vinyl floor tiles. How cool do they look? All this for over $50! It’s not just the idea that you can steal, though
