Home Office Decorating Ideas On A Budget

Home Office Decorating Ideas On A Budget – Let’s face it, some people love working from home and some people hate it. Home office decor wasn’t something we all thought about when we started this year, but let’s face it, our home office decor is more important than ever.

And if you don’t fall into the “I love it” category, you know what’s worse about working from home?

When you’re surrounded by home office decor (or the lack thereof), it doesn’t motivate you to get work done.

Best Home Office Decor Ideas For Remote Workers

Yes, I know… some of you are probably rolling your eyes and thinking how shallow that statement sounds.

When you’re working in a room with the equipment you need, the room is comfortable and has things that bother you.

So whether you’re working from home permanently or working remotely for a while, regardless of the size of your space or the money in your bank account, here are my top tips for creating a great home office.

If working from home is a temporary thing, you probably don’t want to spend a lot of money on a home office that will be thrown out in a few weeks or months.

Budget Home Office Ideas That Look Expensive

No, you don’t have to dedicate an entire room to your office. Highlighting a corner in an existing space is perfect for a home office. And probably, if all you need is a temporary workspace, this is the perfect setup for you.

This is what my friend Brittany did at Brittany Goldwyn: she has a small table in the corner of the living room. I love how you open up this corner with a white/light wood table and lots of beautiful plants!

I don’t mean physically “large” items, I mean high value items. For example, is there a small table that you can use as a desk that can one day be moved into your children’s room for creativity? Or will you end up putting it in the basement for future game nights? If you’re looking after a piece of furniture, at least think of another place in your home where you can use it.

Could your new office space be used as a children’s home station? Or could you add a small table to your guest room and give your visitors another surface when they arrive? Choose a place in your home where this desk can be used for another purpose if needed and set up a home office there.

Before & After: Masculine Basement Home Office

My friend Tasha from Kaleidoscope Living (fun fact: she inspired me to start blogging a few years ago) has a great workshop/office combo with a tall table that can be used for many activities, whether she’s using the Cricut or her kids. . completing school work and art projects.

OK, this might not be entirely possible or sensible when practicing good social distancing, but in normal times, I recommend checking places like Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for used tables, shelves, and chairs.

For example, my friend Hilary is very good at saving. Here’s a look at Hilary’s home office: A few things are recorded (but you’ll never guess) here.

Don’t like buying used things? no problem Then go to IKEA (or order at IKEA.com). IKEA has lots of great home office products that will go well with your home office.

Small Home Office Ideas

The style For example, here’s one of my favorite tables that IKEA sells for $25! I actually have this desk in my daughter’s bedroom. We paired it with this fun (cheap) desk chair.

My friend Lindsey from Shrimp Salad Circus has used a lot of IKEA products to transform her home office…and it’s amazing! He also added a standing desk (I didn’t know IKEA was selling it until I saw the entry on their blog).

Real talk: Your card table won’t help. Go buy a real table, even if it’s a very cheap model. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

If your “office” is in a small space, or even a windowless room like a basement, the furniture and decor should be light and bright. Try a white table and light-colored air curtains (if you have windows) and lighter-colored accents.

Check out my friend Monica’s beautiful home office. Despite the dark accent wall, the white table and beautiful floral curtains keep the space fresh and lively.

There’s no need to overdo it here, unless you really want to, but some pretty decor goes a long way. For example, Toni from Girl, Just DIY used these cute metal containers from Target’s Dollar Spot to store brushes and pencils.

A beautiful coffee mug hanging in your kitchen cabinet is also great as a pencil holder (I’ve used this amazing mug from Anthropologie as a pencil holder in my office for years).
