How To Make A Room Look Bigger – We are no strangers to small living spaces in our home. Our house is an old cape that we love for all its character and “New England charm” as they say here. But that means our closets and rooms are smaller than your average home.
The first time we saw the house was empty, so we didn’t realize how small the house was until we added all the furniture and personal items. For example, our living room is 11 x 11 feet, which is definitely on the small side, especially considering it’s the most used room in our house. So it is very important that we use every square centimeter of space but at the same time the room does not feel cramped and cramped.

How To Make Small Spaces Look Larger With Paint, According To Designers
1. Light the room. This is the most important thing you can do to increase your chances. I can’t tell you how open a room feels when it’s in good condition. Get rid of things you don’t use or need. There is no reason to have 100 different books, magazines, toys and materials sitting on the table. Pick the few things you want to keep and get rid of the rest. Unnecessary clutter can make a room feel small and make it difficult to move around.
2. Choose light colors. Light colors reflect light, making a room appear brighter and larger, while dark colors attract light and make a room appear smaller and closed. Choose light colors for large objects such as walls, floors and curtains to make the room feel more inviting. and wind. Neutral, pastels and light colors make the room feel bigger and more spacious.
3. Rearrange the furniture. You may find that by arranging your furniture in a different arrangement, you will have more space, open up the room, and make it easier to navigate. If you have a piece of furniture in your room that is not very useful, consider removing it to free up some space.
4. Put it in the light. If your room has large windows, don’t cover them with dark, heavy curtains or drapes. Open it up and let in all the natural light. Follow this simple trick when hanging curtains and hang them high and wide to make the curtains look bigger. It really catches the eye and makes the room feel bigger and taller. Or you can ditch the bleaching treatment for a fresh, new look.

5. Choice of design. A room does not need to be covered in pictures, books and walnuts to feel decorated. A few beautiful decorations can help you add your personal style and add some color to your space. Some colorful items are so bold that they are all you need to make a statement.
6. Look for furniture that does more than one job. Think outside the box. Just because a piece of furniture is sold as an item doesn’t mean it can’t be used for something else. A bookcase can double as a TV, an ottoman can be used as a chair and side table, etc. Hidden storage furniture is also great because it helps keep your home organized and in sight.
7. Choose the right carpet. A box that is too small for the room can make the room look smaller. Ideally, the rug should be large enough to accommodate the front legs of furniture such as couches or chairs. A well-sized box allows the eye to travel from end to end of the entire room, making the room appear larger.
8. Use mirrors. Mirrors reflect light and images and can make a small room look bigger, especially if placed in the right place. Mirrors not only make a room feel bigger, but also add depth to a room and can also double as a beautiful piece of furniture.

9. Measure before you buy furniture. An oversized bed may look perfect in the living room, but when you bring it home, you’ll find that half of your bedroom is missing. Save yourself money and heartache by measuring first to make sure an item fits your space before you buy. Find a sofa that is small enough to save space.
10. Add legs to the sofa. Elevating the furniture from the floor makes the room feel more open and airy than when the furniture is sitting on the floor. Check out this tutorial to see how easy it is to add legs to your own sofa.
