How To Make A Small Apartment Bathroom Look Bigger

How To Make A Small Apartment Bathroom Look Bigger – Let’s face it, if you live in an apartment building, you probably don’t have that dream bathroom with a jetted tub and walk-in shower. You probably don’t have a lot of space and ability to make big changes. However, there are a few things you can do to optimize the space and make your bathroom appear larger than it actually is. You don’t have to be an interior designer or do a major bathroom renovation to get the most out of your small space. These small bathroom ideas should work.

Optimizing storage space is crucial in a small bathroom. If you’re like most people, you probably have an abundance of toiletries in your bathroom. If you place them everywhere, they look awkward and clutter small bathrooms. Invest in products that improve organization, reduce clutter and create open space. Consider adding shelves, expanding under-sink storage and downsizing linen closets. Medicine cabinets are a great addition, they add storage space and an extra mirror, making small bathrooms look bigger.

Let’s talk about less clutter, getting rid of things that don’t belong. Wall art and plants can look beautiful, but they don’t make the bathroom look bigger. Create a tidy space by getting rid of extra accessories and rearrange the Bathroom Furniture to keep the space tidy.

Light plays an important role in making a room appear larger. If your bathroom has windows, use curtains that preserve your privacy and let in natural light. Updating and adding lighting is a great way to liven up a room. Replace the yellow lights with bright LEDs and consider installing additional lights to enhance the lighting and draw attention upwards.

If you want to brighten up your bathroom, consider painting the walls. Of course, you need to get permission from your landlord first. When you get the green light, paint the walls and ceiling the same color to create the feeling of a larger space. The goal is to apply this soft, light color scheme throughout the room, so choose a color that matches the floors.

Your bathroom mirror (and mirrors in general) can be an important part of the overall look of your space. This is due to the extra light reflected from the mirror, which creates the illusion of a large space. You probably already have a full-length mirror in your bathroom, but smaller mirrors can also help.

A common trick to expand the space is to raise the shower rod to the top of the ceiling. A tall shower curtain usually draws attention upwards, making the room appear more spacious. Transparent shower curtains are also recommended to stick with a light color theme. If you want to go outside, leave the curtain completely and choose glass doors in the shower. Many landlords allow it because it increases the value of the apartment, but not because of the price. If you go this route, choose clear glass over frosted glass, as the transparency adds to the light and cohesive look you’re looking for.

Small Bathroom Ideas & Make It Look Bigger

If the bathroom door is hinged, try replacing it with a sliding door. In a small bathroom, simply opening the door takes up more valuable square meters. If you want to hold on to a hinged door, use the door to your advantage. Install towel bars or hooks in the door for extra storage space.

With these bathroom design tips, you can give a small bedroom a completely different look and feel. Even if you don’t have a lot of real estate to work with, you can still take advantage of a smaller space.

The reason I think bathrooms are more complicated to design is because you really don’t have a lot of leeway in terms of where things can go. You work within some very fixed parameters: the shower stays where it is, the toilet stays where it is, just like the sink.

Modern Minimalist Style Bathrooms

You can’t move those things like a couch or a table. There just isn’t much flexibility when it comes to decorating a bathroom, especially in a small bathroom with all those physical barriers crushing each other.

So designing a small bathroom is really about getting around physical obstacles in small but impressive ways.

And there are three simple things you can focus on to make a big style impact in your small bathroom. And I’m going to tell you now.

I’m going to talk about countertop furniture first because it’s the most immediate problem for small bathrooms.

Small Bathroom Ideas On A Budget

You probably want to add small decorative accents to your bathroom, but how are you supposed to do it when counter space is limited?

Well, I recommend starting with the functional items – the ones you need around the sink no matter what. You need hand soap and you need a towel. You can’t ignore it and luckily you can buy a stylish hand soap dispenser that can be both decorative and functional.

The one I got was part of a three pack from Costco. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on something like this!

When you have taken care of the functional elements, you can sparingly add decorative trinkets to the free counter space. I’ve used all the counter space here, but you really don’t need to fill all the empty space. My counter space would look just as good (or better according to some minimalists) if I tweaked things a bit.

Reversible Ideas To Overhaul Your Rental Bathroom Now

If there’s one thing you should avoid at all costs when it comes to bathroom counter space, it’s leaving out toiletries, beauty products, and toiletries. Nothing makes a bathroom look awful like jars of hairspray, drugstore facial cleansers, makeup, and hair tools scattered everywhere.

Try to leave only aesthetically pleasing things on the worktop and keep everything else. By the way, if you need some storage tips, check out this video where I share some of my favorite storage solutions I’ve been using since living in my tiny New York apartment.

Some beauty and skincare products come in beautiful packaging, like this cleanser I have, so this would be an exception to the rule. It looks great and goes with this look, so it’s one of those things that is also practical and decorative.

But look what happens when I take the drug store cleaner out of the shower and put it next to the sink. Suddenly the whole picture disappears.

Bathroom Layout Ideas (floor Plans To Get The Most Out Of The Space)

Small bathrooms are all about the little details, and when it comes to limited counter space, there’s really no room to play around here.

In any case, keep those unpleasant objects hidden as best you can.
