The new design is cleaner, more spacious and closer to the portable version. But this, too, is completely different. Depending on the number of people who came to my guide to switching from the new Facebook to the classic Facebook layout, many people didn’t like the changes.

But like it or not, Facebook has removed the ability to go viral and back again. If you’re still using the old layout (or Classic Facebook, as they call it) via a plugin or CSS layer, you can find an earlier version of the Facebook Size Guide here.

So here’s a revised version of our unofficial Facebook photo size guide which takes into account the latest build they call New Facebook (the old version was called Classic Facebook).

Photos are an important part of using Facebook – it’s one of the most popular places in the world to share photos – but if you’ve come across this page, you might be wondering what photo sizes to use on Facebook. It’s not that easy. Includes some arguments to get the desired result. Each image type on a page, profile, and timeline has its own size and quirks. And Facebook has never been better at finding their help pages.

Interestingly, Facebook changes things from time to time without notice. Sometimes the changes are small and incremental. Sometimes this is a complete conversion (eg when schedules are rendered and changed from two columns to one). So it’s always a moving target. There always seems to be a new system just as we are used to the old one.

: Use an image that is at least 940 pixels wide and 352 pixels high. But if you want the best quality, use an image of at least 1880p and 704p.

The Facebook cover photo is a large panoramic image area at the top of the graphic. This is sometimes called a banner image or header image.

His screen is responsive. In other words, the size displayed on the screen varies depending on the size of the browser window or device screen. You can see this effect if you change the size of the browser window while viewing the page.

With the previous design, it was a bit more complicated to figure out what would appear correctly on the Facebook cover photo because not every part of the image would appear at all sizes. Safe areas and bands are cut out on the desktop screen.

The new version made everything easier. The entire image is displayed and simply resized.

First, they turned a short shadow piece finished below. It’s an overlay, which means it sits on top of your image in a single layer. So I don’t want to include any main text or details in this subset.

The second one takes the color of the outer pixels from the image and uses it to create a colored shaded area in the empty space behind the image. Here is an example of what I mean by taking the red color on the outer border of the image and applying it to the white background. (I’ve cropped out the profile picture here to keep things simple.) Brands with a custom color palette should make a special note for adding the colors of your choice to the border of the picture.

Third, the bottom corners are slightly rounded (or technically a stroke radius). It is not very aggressive, so it is not likely to cause problems for many users. However, this can cause problems if you use a border around your image or other detailed frames. It is used automatically and there is no way to turn it off.

Fourth, the profile photo now transitions to the cover photo. In this version it is accurate and only one piece covers the cover image.

If you’ve created a new Facebook profile or page and don’t have a cover photo yet, click the Add Cover button at the top of the page where your cover photo will be placed.

Once you add your photo, you can change it easily. Click on it when you are logged into your account and view your page

Clicking this will open a drop down menu where you can select a source for the new image. This is the menu if you want to delete or replace an existing photo or use a video or slideshow cover.

When it comes to photo types, panorama is the best. Simple products work just as well, though effectiveness varies by picture. And there is nothing in the viewer to prevent you from combining multiple images into a collage, saving and uploading them as a single image file. For example:

Until recently, you could only select one photo to serve as the default cover photo. But a new feature has been added: slideshows. You can now select up to 5 photos to rotate. Access this feature through the same menu that lets you add or change a cover photo (for example, the camera icon in the top left of the cover photo section).

When creating a slideshow, you are given the option to select up to 5 images to use. Use the movie bar above to select images from existing images or upload new images. Click on the thumbnail to get a preview of how it will appear in the larger area below the thumbnails. You can click and drag the section to change the position of the image in the viewport.

You also get a dynamically generated version that allows Facebook to select images based on performance and good functionality on your page. You can turn this feature on or off using the switch at the top right of the slideshow editing screen.

If you use a slideshow wrapper, your audience can navigate the slideshow using the arrows on each page (the previous layout had status indicators at the bottom, but the new version has them).

I find some weird things about how slideshows are presented to viewers currently. First, the slideshow does not advance automatically. Therefore, to display more than one image in a slideshow, your audience must know how to manually advance to the image page using the arrow buttons. I think only a very small percentage. Secondly, if you disable Facebook’s option to select photos, the photos will be displayed in the same order each time instead of displaying photos randomly. As a result of both, at least as currently implemented, most visitors to your page will only see the first image. The third quibble – at least for me – is the placement of the new shadow color accents in the background section. It changes with the profile picture taken from the displayed profile picture. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to be aware of.

The Perfect Facebook Cover Photo Size & Best Practices (2023 Update)

Now you can also use video files for your logo area. It must be between 20 and 90 seconds in length and at least 820 x 312 pixels in size. The recommended size is 820 x 462.

If you’re shooting video with a camera that allows you to select a video reel, 720p mode is a good place to start, as it has a resolution of 1280 x 720, comfortably adequate resolution.

The Facebook profile picture is now on the lower left side of the cover photo, overlapping slightly below the cover photo. It’s slightly smaller than previous versions, and has been shrunk down to a circle with a diameter of 132 pixels.

The good news is that you don’t need to upload a circular image, which is a bit tricky to create. Alternatively, you can upload any regular rectangle or square image. Regardless of the format of the uploaded image, it will be cropped in a circle
